Kempton Nature Reserve
What to see
Kempton is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Over 160 species of birds have been sighted, including over 90 protected species, like shovelers and gadwall. Other species include black-tailed godwit, redwing, lapwing and marsh harrier. You might even see the turquoise flash of a kingfisher or the graceful strut of great white egrets.
Far from just birds, we have bees, wildflowers, butterflies and dragonflies. As well as fauna, we have plenty of fabulous flora too.
Wildflowers decorate the meadowland in spring as the acrobatic migrating swifts return. A rainbow of leaves and fungi bring autumn into life with the calls of circling buzzards. Every season brings new colour!
